Random notes

Apologies for being a bad blogger, but I’m feeling a bit aloof right now. Here are some highlights from this week:

✴️ I’ve tackled the carb-snacking issue at work. Spending time there is dangerous because the kitchen is always stocked with pastries, candy and chips. So, I’ve enlisted my co-workers to keep an eye on me. Anyone who catches me eating something off-limits will immediately earn 1000 SEK (about $100). Haha, that puts a very effective end to thoughts like “ohhh, these cookies are new, I just have to taste them”. The shame of being caught would kill me. 😄

✴️ Tuesday became the year’s first skirt day, which meant going out barelegged. It’s always a bit awkward, although most other people are just as pale, so who is there to cast the first stone, really? And yes, I know there’s such a thing as self-tanners. I’ve tried lots of those, even the pricey award-winners, but none have looked quite right, so I prefer to tan naturally. Today is Sunday and I’m back to wearing a winter jacket. Don’t ask.

✴️ Spring cleaning is in full swing, whenever inspiration strikes. Today I managed to remove a stubborn stain on the shower floor that’s been bugging me for months. A sudden stroke of inspiration led me to try nail polish remover — and it worked! Feels like a monumental victory.

a yummy salad

Something I can eat without paying 1000 SEK
This is my favorite salad at the moment. It’s very easy to make; just put the following ingredients on a plate and enjoy: salad mix, avocado, shrimps, corn kernels, cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, sun-dried tomatoes, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and dressing (be careful not to pick one full of additives!). Usually, I also add alfalfa sprouts on top.

Walking on sunshine

Finally! 😃 Somehow spring got fast-forwarded, and it’s now summer. Most trees are still bare, but all the shrubs are in full bloom, and it’s warm enough to wear skirts and get a nice leg tan. Needless to say, I’m making the most of this and have been power walking like there’s no tomorrow. Got sore feet now, but it was totally worth it.

new Hagastaden street

This is a street in Hagastaden, a new neighborhood close to where I live. The buildings are quite tall and standing between them almost gives me a NYC vibe. Speaking of NYC, which makes me think of the States, which makes me think of Florida, which makes me think of lying on a boat deck in a bikini…

…I’ve implemented some immediate lifestyle changes:

✴️ Two power walks per day
✴️ Only low-carb, high-quality food, 2-3 meals per day
✴️ Lattes: only allowed on weekends

This simple plan is highly effective and always delivers results, but consistency is key. And that’s very easy this time of year. If any of you also have been waiting for the right time to kickstart a new phase in your life, THIS IS IT! 😊
